Update Ownership Percentage
When adding investments to a fund, ownership percentage can be set by an Admin. There may also be times when you need to update the ownership percentage after the investment has been added. In Sensr Portal, you can update ownership percentages in two different ways. Review each of the scenarios below to determine which method best meets your needs.
TIP: Things to Consider Before Updating Ownership Percentages
- Make sure that all investors exist in Sensr Portal.
- Make sure that all investors have up-to-date investment amounts.
- Verify whether or not you intend to have a sum of 100% ownership across all owners.
- Verify whether or not you have custom calculations favoring certain investors over others. In most cases, this would cause the ownership percentage sum to be higher or lower.
Scenario 1: Most Common Scenario
If all investors are entered in Sensr Portal and the ownership percentage pro-rated sum is intended to be 100%, you can easily update the ownership percentage in your Functions.
How to Update Ownership Percentage
- From the Functions menu select Ownership.
- Use the checkboxes to select the properties to pro-rate ownership.
- Click the Pro Rate Selected Properties button. This will automatically pro-rate the ownership percentage of 100% of the fund.
Scenario 2: Less Common Scenario
If all investors of the fund are not in Sensr Portal or the sum is not 100% by design, you can download all investment data as an XLSX document to manually update the ownership percentage. Then import the updated data back into the system.
How to Update Ownership Percentage Using Excel
- Navigate to the related fund page and click on the Financials tab.
- Click Download XLSX above the table.
- Using Excel, manually update the spreadsheet's ownership percentage column for each of the investors.
- Once updated, return to the Financials tab and click the Import to upload the updated Excel file.
- The changes will appear in the system once the file is uploaded.
