Fund-Investor Assignment Overview
The Fund-Investor Assignment feature is available on the Funds Page and allows you to assign existing investors to existing funds. However, there are prerequisites that must be met before making the Fund-Investor assignment. Refer to the Preparation section below for details and instructions on How to Use this feature correctly. An additional Troubleshooting section is located at the bottom of the page to assist you in successful fund-investor assignment.
IMPORTANT: You cannot add new contacts, new investors or new funds, or remove them from the system with this feature.
REMINDER: With this feature you can only:
- Assign existing investors to existing funds.
- Have one commitment per investor in the fund.
Preparation
Before processing any Fund-Investor-Contact assignments, there are prerequisites that must be met. These include:
- Contacts and Investors must already exist in the system.
- Investor-Contact assignments must already be completed.
- Funds must already exist in the system.
NOTE: Investors assigned to a fund can only be viewed in that Fund's Financials tab.
How to Use
On the Funds page, click the Download button and select Investor Assignment.
Notice the green banner at the top of the page indicating a notification will appear in the notification center once completed. Click the notification to download the file.
Next, open the file and make the necessary adjustments to the template and prepare it for upload.
Column Headers will appear in the order indicated below: Fund ID, Fund Name, Investor ID, Partner ID, Investor Name
Mandatory fields for Upload:
- Fund ID
- Investor ID
Click the Upload button and select Investor Assignment. The file picker opens to select the related file (XLSX and CSV formats only).
- Once the file passes all validations a new investment record for each Investor ID in the related fund is created with a $0.00 commitment.
Troubleshooting
If there are any failures, a yellow banner appears to alert you with a brief explanation. The types of errors you may encounter are listed below as well as their solution:
